Travel is about freedom, connection, and possibility. We’re here to make sure wheelchair users everywhere can explore it with confidence.
Hey there! I’m Natalie, and I’ve had the travel bug for as long as I can remember. I was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy when I was 18 months old, and I’ve used a wheelchair ever since. My brother also has SMA and uses a wheelchair, so accessibility has always been part of my family’s daily life.
My love for travel really took off through power soccer. I never expected sports to be my passport to the world, but competing with Team USA carried me across the country and eventually overseas to Japan, France, Argentina, Australia, and Brazil. Traveling with a team of power wheelchair users is always an adventure. Imagine fitting 24 chairs on a single flight. We've done it!
These days, I share my travels with my husband, Jordan, who also has SMA and has used a wheelchair all his life. Together, we bring a dual perspective to every destination—two wheelchair users navigating the same spaces, comparing notes, and uncovering the details guidebooks may overlook.
Travel has always been at the heart of my life. Not just for the joy of seeing new places, but for what it represents: freedom, connection, and possibility. As a lifelong wheelchair user, I’ve learned that accessible travel isn’t about asking if it’s possible, it’s about asking the right questions.
I was inspired by incredible wheelchair travel bloggers like Cory Lee, who showed me the power of sharing these stories. That inspiration led me to create Roamable. Roamable is about opening the world to more people, showing that adventure is possible when you have the right tools and information. It’s about replacing uncertainty with confidence, and turning what might feel impossible into the start of an incredible journey.
At its core, Roamable exists to prove that disability does not mean inability. With thoughtful planning, creative problem-solving, and a community that shares knowledge, the world becomes more open, more welcoming, and more exciting to explore.
